这部纪录片名为《柴米油盐之上》（A Long, Cherished Dream），讲述的是在中国全面建成小康社会的过程中，普通人生活里那些细碎却重要的日常。
纪录片的主角是村支部书记、女卡车司机、杂技演员、民营企业家……他们是中国变革故事的亲历者，也是创造者，他们的故事如一条条溪流汇聚成当代中国故事的奔腾江海。

7月15日起，这部全长四集的纪录片已在中央广播电视总台农业农村频道、东南卫视、海峡卫视、腾讯视频播出，此外还登陆了英国Sky天空电视台、美国Discovery探索频道。

那么，这部纪录片具体讲了普通中国人的什么故事？这位蜚声国际的外国导演，为何会把自己手中的镜头对准中国？站在西方人的视角上，他又会如何理解看待中国“小康”与逐渐肩负起家国责任的中国年轻一代？
带着这些问题，世纪君采访了柯文思导演，听他讲述他眼中的中国↓↓↓
A series of documentary films, which turns lens on the efforts of ordinary Chinese people to achieve a xiaokang, or moderately prosperous society, airs on July 15. The series aims to show the rapid changes in China through the prism of their individual stories. The wisdom, industriousness and aspiration of those featured not only allows them to change their own destinies, but also contributes to the country's vigor and vitality. With two-time Academy Award-winning director Malcolm Clarke at the helm, A Long Cherished Dream adopts a global perspective, exploring a common value shared the world over through the inspirational personal stories of people seeking a better life.
“这些故事在中国发生过成千上万次”
纪录片首集讲述的是一名基层中国共产党员的故事。他叫常开勇，纪录片拍摄的时候，他是云南省昭通市彝良县小干溪村党支部书记。

作为中国最基层的干部，常开勇不仅要向百姓传递政策，还要耐心处理村民因不理解而产生的埋怨和冲突。在信仰和朴素的故土情怀驱使下，他甘愿过着清贫的生活，致力于让村民过上更好的生活。

纪录片也拍下了常开勇数次讲述到动情处而落泪的镜头。柯文思对常开勇的评价是他感情非常丰富，因为他深深地爱着这里的土地和人民。

第二集的主人公是身材娇小的“95后”货车女司机张琳，与她日夜为伴的是一辆9.6米长的大卡车，无论是长途路上奔波的艰辛，还是原生家庭的不幸和婚姻生活的不顺，都没有改变她的“顽强”性格：敢爱敢恨敢哭敢笑，勇于追求属于自己的幸福，坚定过自己想要的人生。

Main characters in the documentary include a Party branch committee secretary who is devoted to lifting villagers out of poverty by helping them find jobs and a female truck driver who leaves her rural hometown to pursue economic independence while challenging gender stereotypes.
第三集则是关于杂技演员王怀甫的人生故事。原本要“退役”的他迎来职业生涯中最重要的机会——担任大型舞台剧《战上海》的男主角。演出前，他带着五岁的儿子回到河南老家，重访故乡也勾起了他深埋心底的少年回忆：艰苦的训练，独自承受的压力，告别父母与故土的不舍，在上海扎根的不易……

而最后一集则讲述了上世纪90年代，富春江畔的大山里，几个砍柴少年约定一起走出大山，闯出一番事业的故事。从严寒酷暑帮人跑腿，到风吹雨淋骑着自行车穿行于大街小巷，乘着中国物流行业迅猛发展的浪潮，他们一点点地积累，缔造出一个庞大的快递帝国。然而，看着深深挂念的家乡逐渐走向衰败，他们又有了一个新的约定……

Some heroic efforts in the pursuit of a dream are depicted through people like an acrobat who has established his family in Shanghai, but still desperately tries to prolong his stage career, despite his age and physical pain. Alongside them are the express delivery entrepreneurs who have changed the path of their lives through years of hard work.
每集故事的主人公都出生于贫困家庭，但是他们的生活伴随着中国经济的快速腾飞而发生了改变。纪录片的最后一集，故事有一些不同，主人公在摆脱贫困之后，用自己所有的资源来回馈家乡，帮助父老乡亲，这正是共同富裕的小康故事缩影。

In Clarke's eyes, these people represent four different stages of the process to achieve a xiaokang society. "We'll see people transformed from rural peasants into factory workers, truck drivers, circus stars and even multimillionaires," Clarke says. "All of these people started with nothing. They are real-life rags-to-riches stories, but they're far from being a fairy tale.” "Each film tells the story of Chinese people born into poverty whose lives are transformed by riding the wave of China's historic economic renaissance," Clarke says. "And, finally, in our fourth film, we tell the inspiring story of rural people who, after shaking off their lives of poverty and succeeding beyond their wildest dreams－are now using their resources to return to their hometown to help those people who had been 'left behind'."
在导演柯文思眼中，这部纪录片讲述了平凡又普通的四个故事，故事中每个人的事迹或许在中国发生过成千上万次。
“We chose people who were brave enough to seize the moment when someone said do you want to change your life, do you want to be a part of the xiaokang process, they say yes, and they benefit from it. ”
“我们选择了足够勇敢、抓住机会的这样一群人。当有人问，你想改变你的生活吗，你想要成为实现全面小康进程中的一份子吗，他们表示愿意，并且受益于此。”
“But at the same time, when you see this in episode one, you cannot leave behind a life you and your ancestors have lived for hundreds of years and not have regrets, and not have psychological impact. Because you are leaving behind everything that is meaningful to you. You are leaving behind your place in the world, you are leaving behind your comfort zone.”
“但与此同时，当你看第一集时，你不可能毫不遗憾、内心毫无波澜地放下你和祖祖辈辈已经过了几百年的生活。因为你离开了对你充满意义的一切。你离开了自己在世上的栖身之地，你离开了你的舒适区。”
“And we want the people who could talk about that and talk about not just the great things about Xiaokang, but the challenges of Xiaokang also.”

“小康让年轻人真正追求梦想”
在纪录片中，从富春江畔砍柴少年对未来生活的美好期许，到“95后”女货车司机勇敢追逐独立自由的人生，再到跟随父母走出大山乡村过上更好生活的稚嫩孩童，导演柯文思敏锐地捕捉到了中国一代又一代年轻人的精神面貌。

导演柯文思认为，这一代”90后”中国年轻人极其幸运。
“They haven’t experienced extreme poverty. And they experienced the fruits of China’s renaissance. They have an opportunity of good education, they have an opportunity, if they work hard, China provides all kinds of career growth opportunities.”
“他们没有经历过极度贫困，他们体验了中国复兴的成果。他们有机会接受良好的教育，如果他们努力工作，就有机会拥有国家提供的各种职业发展的机会。”

而年轻人们所拥有的这些机会也与中国实现全面小康密不可分，在身为西方人的柯文思导演看来，小康最令人赞叹之处是让中国年轻人能够追求他们真正的梦想。
“At least now there is the opportunity to fulfill their own potential to realize their dreams, no matter what they want, you want to be a rock star, you want to be an explorer, you want to be a fisherman, you want to... whatever it is, a fashion designer.”
“如今他们至少有机会发挥自己的潜力,实现他们的梦想，无论他们想要做什么，无论是想成为一个摇滚明星，一个探险家，一个渔夫，或是时装设计师。”

“制作关于中国的真情实感的电影”
这部纪录片的英文名是A Long, Cherished Dream，直译成中文是“期待已久的梦想”。
在柯文思导演看来，这个“梦想”就是等待已久的发挥个人潜能的机会，小康让所有中国人民有机会真正畅想自己和家庭可以拥有的一切可能未来。而柯文思导演自身也有个和中国相关的梦想。

上世纪80年代，柯文思第一次来到中国。那一年，他去了中国很多地方，目之所及到处都是贫穷，但他同时也被中国人民勤劳、坚韧和乐观的天性深深打动。
几十年过去，中国有了翻天覆地的变化。如今，中国实行了义务教育，提高了识字率，养活了14亿中国人，在中华大地上全面建成了小康社会，历史性地解决了绝对贫困问题。
眼前的一切让柯文思深深地着迷，也让拍摄足迹遍布全球80多个国家的他将目光投向了中国。“我想要尽力做的就是制作关于这个国家既真实又注入感情的电影。”（What I want to try and do is make honest emotionally engaging films about this country.）
采访中，他如此评价自己的作品：
“[Films] that are not propaganda, that don’t tell lies, that don’t boast or exaggerate or shade the truth, just tell the story of China through its people in the most unalloyed and open-hearted way. “
“这不是政治宣传，也不是谎言，并非自吹自擂或掩盖真相，只是通过中国人民以最纯粹和最开放的方式讲述中国的故事。”
他希望自己所做的事能够改变西方对中国的一些看法，而更令他欣慰的是，有越来越多的中国年轻人站在国际舞台上发声，讲述中国故事。
“如果讲故事的中国人越来越多，被讲述的中国故事越来越多，这些偏见就会逐渐开始消失。(more Chinese storytellers there are, and more Chinese stories are told, the more the prejudices begin to evaporate.)”
对于未来下一部关于中国的作品，柯文思充满了期待与动力。他想要邀请如“本尼”（Benedict Cumberbatch）等西方著名影星拍一部电视剧，来讲述英国学者李约瑟的故事。李约瑟一生热爱中华文化，在中国居住多年，致力于向西方世界介绍中国古代科技。
“我们想让尽可能多的人去看，去了解中国对世界的贡献。” “We want as many people to watch it as possible and understand what China contributes to the world.”
